SolNet is the first coordinated international PhD education program on Solar Thermal Engineering.

The SolNet network is coordinated by the Institute of Thermal Engineering at Kassel University, Germany (www.solar.uni-kassel.de).

SolNet provides the opportunity for manifold networking activities between PhD and Master students in the solar thermal field.
Among others, SolNet offers

  • One-week PhD courses (annually)
  • One-week Master courses during selected conferences
  • The opportunity for internships of PhD students at SolNet partner Universities

The networking activities started in 2006 with a Marie-Curie scholarship program of the European Union. In this framework SolNet offered seven PhD courses, as well as ten PhD scholarships during 2006-2010.

The SolNet early stage research training project financed by the European Union has been concluded in June 2010. Unfortunately, there are no further PhD scholarships available in the framework of the SolNet Marie-Curie project.

PhD course programme 2011 – 2014
The second round of SolNet courses will take place at the universities in Kassel (DE), Innsbruck (AT), Rapperswil (CH) and Copenhagen/Lyngby (DK). The courses are supported by the German industry federations Bundesindustrieverband Deutschland: Haus- Energie- und Umwelttechnik e.V. (BdH; www.bdh-koeln.de) and Bundesverband Solarwirtschaft (BSW; www.solarwirtschaft.de)
